School Accountability Committee (SAC) is Maple Grove's school accountability committee. A school accountability committee is required by state law, and consists of a group of parents or guardians, grandparents, or other community members who have a vested interest in the school, with a desire to help make positive changes that promote the community school. The committee serves in an advisory capacity to the principal on issues that might affect the entire school community.

The primary purpose of the accountability committee is to serve in an advisory capacity to the principal and school board on matters that affect that school site. Local school accountability committees shall provide a means for citizens to have an integral part in the decision-making process at the school that he or she serves.

An accountability committee member must be an adult who is a proponent of public education and must have demonstrated continual involvement and service to his or her local school.

Local accountability committees will follow guidelines established in Jefferson County Board Policy AE-R-1. These guidelines help compose accountability committees as follows:

• At least one teacher who provides instruction in the school
• At least three parents of students enrolled in the school
• At least one adult member of an organization of parents, teachers, and students recognized by the school
• At least one adult member of the community
• Committees shall be composed of not fewer than 7 nor more than 12 members

The committee can continue to function as vacancies are filled.

SAC meets every four times a year but may meet more often if the need arises. Accountability committees are required to conduct a minimum of four meetings, at least one each quarter, per year. Local school accountability committee members must attend 50% or more of the regular scheduled meetings each year. Accountability Committee meetings are open to all members of the community.

All meetings are 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Maple Grove Library.
