Things That Help Prepare For Middle School
- Talk about your student's hopes and worries
- Practice opening a combination lock for a locker
- Take a tour of your local middle school
- Talk about possible elective choices and what to do if the student does not get his/her preference
- Find out who your school contact or counselor will be if questions arise
- Help your student realize friendships will change with schedules, students going to different schools, etc. Talk about ways to make new friends through a variety of interests (like drama, band, sports, clubs)
